Salary Range: $60,986 – $71,749

Job Summary:
The Multimedia Developer plays a key role in designing and developing multimedia projects for university instructors and faculty. The incumbent helps design and develop multimedia resources in partnership with instructors/faculty and works with an interdisciplinary team to create various learning resources for use in online, face-to-face, and hybrid courses.

Nature of work:
Reporting to the manager of the Teaching and Learning Centre the Multimedia Developer will be responsible for graphic design, developing learning objects using authoring software, shooting and editing video, developing/revising Content Management System (CMS) websites, and still images. This Multimedia Developer may have to work occasional evening hours.


The Multimedia Developer is also responsible for solid understanding of online pedagogy at the post-secondary level and assisting with the development and facilitation of training sessions for various educational technology tools, some of which may include Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas, LMS), Adobe Creative Cloud, Captivate, Kaltura etc.

Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
Work closely with instructors and faculty to understand their needs in online content delivery

Use current pedagogy to lay out a plan for multimedia content development

Develop new learning objects and interactive online learning activities

Identification and classification of existing learning objects and other existing activities for courses

Creating multimedia videos and presentations on specific topics

Remain current with leading technologies

Train faculty in technological enhancements for the classroom (both virtual and face to face)

Required Skills

Advanced knowledge of and skills in multimedia development software

Knowledgeable about current e-learning technologies

High level of creativity

Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs

Strong critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and communication skills

Ability to work both independently and within a team

Demonstrated reliability and good organizational and time management skills

Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate a workload with multiple projects and deadlines

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse clientele

Familiarity with the following is an asset:
Adobe creative cloud (Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop)

eLearning authoring tool Adobe Captivate

Google suite (Drive, sheets, meet, slides)

Digital SLR video cameras, lighting and audio

College diploma with work experience or University degree in multimedia design and development


Required Experience

Minimum two years experience in a multimedia related position, preferably in a post-secondary system

Experience developing online multimedia informed by pedagogy for educational purposes

Experience with video/audio editing

Experience with learning management systems(LMS)

Experience with content management systems(CMS)

Experience with e-learning authoring tools
