The Job

As Studio Manager, you will be an integral part of the design studio within our product team, supporting a key client while working closely with the design directors, design leads, project managers, writers, and other team members. You’ll be responsible for leading and motivating a team of designers and working with the design director, creative director, and senior creative operations manager to create an inclusive, supportive culture with growth opportunities for designers in the design studio.

Your top priority is ensuring that the quality of the finished work meets Thesis’s high standards from both a creative and production standpoint. Your daily responsibilities will include resourcing new assignments to designers, tracking deadlines, re-prioritizing as needed, and ensuring that final deliverables are on time and meet project specs and brand guidelines. You will work with team members to establish processes and ensure that team members stay up to date as processes evolve. You will need to bring a keen eye for detail as well as a mix of both technical skills and creative acumen.

NOTE – We are open to having this role be remote, we would expect the selected individual to work West Coast hours.

The Job

Be a core part of our designer team, helping to deliver excellent work across a variety of mediums.

Assign and shift projects to designers as needed, on a daily basis, to ensure that deadlines are met.

Provide support to designers, making sure they have what they need to do their job, and push back on requests when needed.

Partner with project managers to ensure that proposed project timelines reflect the design time needed.

Partner with senior creative operations manager and project managers to forecastt future designer needs.

Lead design communications and workflows within your team, ensuring effective exchange of information and deliverables.

Drive and maintain design consistency across deliverables.

Establish and maintain best production practices

Your skills and qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in design or fine arts (or comparable experience).

Three to five years as a designer, with experience leading projects and/or creative


Knowledge of and ability to maintain and adhere to client brand guidelines,

including calling out when and where they don’t make sense.

Understanding of projects and deliverables and the ability to supervise the output of

designers on your team.

Experience creating project timelines and scopes.

Experience creating and managing project budgets.

Exceptional organizational, listening, and communication skills.

Strong project management skills.

Deep knowledge of production processes, technologies, and design.

Deep knowledge of industry-standard software (Adobe CC, Sketch, etc.).

Deep knowledge of Asana or other project management software.

Basic knowledge of the Google Suite (Drive, Docs, etc.).

But even better, you have

Familiar with data visualization tools such as Google Data Studio, Tableau, Looker, or anything else along those lines.

Experience with running ads on Pandora, Spotify, and Hulu.

Digital agency experience.

Understanding and belief in the value of a diverse workforce.

Ability to work in our Portland office.
