The goal of the Industrial Converters (ICN) team within the Industrial Automation segment is to bring forward highly innovative, next generation technology that redefines the market’s understanding of Precision Converter technologies, the depth of signal chain integration and feature depth that can be achieved as we move towards the “Intelligent Edge”

To enable us to achieve our ambitious objectives, the ICN team is seeking a self-motivating, “customer focused” Senior Marketing Engineering Lead for shaping and influencing the product and technology roadmaps, and for the commercialisation strategy of our New and Novel Core Architectures for next generation high-performance Intelligent Edge Converter products.

The Position

The Staff Marketing Engineer position reports into the Director of Product Marketing. This role is customer facing, being able to understand and synthesize inputs from multiple customers and end markets and feed this information into new product definitions is key. We play in a very competitive market place, so an appreciation of key customer values and product positioning for differentiation and sales enablement will also be a strong focus for the role. ADI is a market leader and continues to explore new, innovative ways to bring greater value to our customers, which requires a strong leaning on creativity and the ability to easily explain complex issues to sway opinions and create buy in. Ultimately you should be seen and recognized as the leader in you field and able to sway opinions based upon your credibility.


Evaluate and define target customers and determine the engagement strategies needed to inform ADI’s Industrial Converter and Intelligent Edge Strategy. The successful candidate will drive Industrial Converter product development investment strategy and lead customer negotiations in collaboration with ADI sales and Group Applications. You will be expected to champion the Intelligent Edge converter space into both the market and our internal teams to drive the mindset away from device led strategy. This role includes an appreciation for value added capabilities, including SW algorithms, tools and features. Active customer relationship management is required, from initial product concept stages, through to release and mass production. The goal of engagements is identify customer values to create substantial new business for both Analog Devices and provide clear performance and feature advantages to ADI’s customers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for management of a portfolio, creation of key business justification collateral to support new product and technology investments.

Own and manage product evolution, for growth and SoM (Share of Market), to provide RoI (Return on Investment), and manage relevant Portfolios for competitiveness, sustainability, profitability, efficiency and competitive advantage.

Determine long-term strategy for business. Identify and develop attractive segments, potential H2 & H3 products and solutions for highest profit, sustainability, competitive advantage and efficiency.

Contribute to and deliver on relevant Articles and Seminars

Provide guidance and requirements for Hardware and Embedded Software design-in tools, eval boards, examples etc.

Provide Product and Strategy training for Field Sales and Applications staff, plus foster early engagement with select customers

Contribute to customer engagement activities in the development of product concepts, product definition, & sensor algorithmic elements through to market release.

Create successful new product marketing collateral that compliments the multi-disciplinary team (Marketing, Design, Test & Evaluation, Field Applications/Market Segment, Sales), to deliver the highest level of differentiated solutions to the toughest customer problems.

Be responsible for designing metrics to track and accurately measure success for assigned new products and drive uptake

Implement first class Field & customer support. Understand the customer needs. Provide innovative, practical and timely solutions to customer issues. The candidate will need to work with ADI’s Field staff in different geographies and in many cases directly with the customer to solve these issues and communicate the solutions.

Customer awareness of our technology, products and solutions is critical in a competitive market. Create suitable messaging for targeted media, i.e. trade press articles that promote awareness and use of our product values. Make our differentiation and benefits to “applications and markets” clear in this media.

ADI’s Industrial Converter business is Worldwide. Developing a relationship with our Field Application Engineers, Sales Engineers and distributors via key training material creation and delivery helps us to reach the broad customer base. The role requires development & delivery of both on-site and webinar based marketing training.

Ideal Candidate Qualities

A Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in a similar role. MBA a plus.

Commercially aware, customer focussed, value driven

Excellent communication skills is essential, as this role will involve close interaction with customers and the wider FAE, Sales, design and measurement teams.

A proactive, self-motivated individual with an interest in getting to the disruptive elements that will trump the competition and will make ADI’s value propositions abundantly clear.

An understanding of technology trends within the Smart Factory, Edge Analytics including new and legacy industrial protocols would be beneficial to the job.

An understanding of Analog Front Ends that includes signal conditioning and interfacing with Digital blocks would be very helpful.

An ability to show imagination, anticipate & solve problems, quantify risk, and be proactive in mitigation would be very beneficial

As the job requires frequent and intense engagements with customers, it will be necessary to travel globally to support our product development and revenue ambitions.
