Come be part of the team that launched the 1st and largest 5G network in Canada! We are looking for talented individuals to join our RAN Engineering & Innovation team. Our team is responsible for building the next generation of network infrastructure that will power the wireless technologies of tomorrow.

The ideal candidate is motivated by impactful work and the opportunity to collaborate with teammates, stakeholders, and vendors on a variety of projects such as 5G NSA/SA, LTE/LTE-A, Fixed Wireless Access, Private Networks, Small Cells, IoT and Automation Development. As part of the RAN organization, you will use your ability to analyze and understand network performance, technology, and consumer demands. You will actively highlight opportunities to improve performance, assess network software releases, deploy new functionality into the wireless network, and support business initiatives.

Main functional responsibilities, accountabilities, and areas of support:

RAN optimization of parameters and features in the network

New RAN Technology development to introduce new services

New RAN Hardware configuration & integration guidelines

Capacity/performance forecasting and data analytics using machine learning

What you will be doing:
Supporting senior members of the team with various RAN related initiatives, which can include:

Evaluating vendor software & hardware roadmaps and providing recommendations on products to target for use in Rogers networks.

Participating in RFPs/RFQs to evaluate new vendors/products to meet Rogers’ network requirements.

Collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to understand their business needs and inputs that should be considered when developing RAN solutions.

Developing new RAN solutions and maintaining and updating existing solutions when required.

Reviewing and recommending improvements to existing RAN solutions, features & parameters.

Preparing technical specifications, design specifications and commissioning plans.

Providing technical guidance in planning and executing assigned projects.

Participating in project analysis, design, implementation, and commissioning phases.

Analyzing project scope of work and, accordingly, providing technical and functional recommendations.

Providing support with acceptance testing and validation activities.

Scheduling engineering meetings to discuss new ideas, issues, and project status.

Recommending new HW & SW to improve system performance, capacity, and reliability.

Assisting the management team with project budgeting and timelines.

Preparing executive level summaries of proposed solutions, project status and issues.

Evaluating existing engineering processes and recommend improvements.

What you have:
Knowledge of 5G NR & LTE networks and the associated 3GPP specifications, specifically on RAN features, optimization, air interface parameters, radio resource management, signaling, mobility settings, idle and active mode call processing

Strong background in communications theory and RF basics, broad knowledge of other wireless technology such as CatM/NB-IoT, WCDMA and GSM

Knowledge of RAN KPIs, counters, definitions of optimization parameters and their impacts on network performance and capacity

Knowledge of RAN hardware/components and performance management/RF optimization

Experience with SAP Business Suite of tools and/or Power BI or other type of reporting tools

Experience with one or more from the following: scripting languages (Python, Pearl, shell)

Solid understanding of statistics and probability

Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a creative and innovative approach

Detail-oriented, with a strong desire to excel in network design and performance improvement

Self-motivated, able to individually learn/research new network concepts

A team player with willingness to share knowledge through documentation, collaboration and presentations

Adaptive to changes; capable of working under challenging situations

Excellent planning, organizational and inter-personal skills

Excellent communication & presentation skills

BE/BSc degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering (Masters degree preferred)
