What’s the role?

The Brand and Communications Manager is a key role that is a senior member of the Mobility Marketing Management Team. The role is the custodian of the Mobility Brand positioning ensuring its protection and communication strategy.

The incumbent will work very closely with the global brand and local Corporate Relations team in growing the brand in South Africa including driving innovation and new solutions for the South African consumer in the portfolio of Fuels, e-Mobility, Non-Fuels Retail and Loyalty. The Brand and Communications Manager is responsible for the annual brand and communications strategy working with all relevant stakeholders in the execution thereof. This role supports the delivery of Shell’s financial delivery in the market it oversees all promotions and brand-related activities in the market.

This role is responsible for developing and communicating the brand message to the customer within the guidelines set globally and by the local leadership team.

This role manages technical partnerships in collaboration with the fuels team & in line with the sponsorship strategy directive. In addition, will manage relationships across media & creative agencies & other relevant tactical partnerships. Collaborates with the Corporate Relations Team to ensure delivery of an inclusive PR strategy that is commercially sensible & reflective of mobility’s energy transition ambition.

Further, the brand and comms manager will collaborate with Convenience Retail , Payments & Loyality and CRM including operational excellence teams to deliver intergraded campaigns where required. The brand and Comms manager will be expected to supervise and leverage the CR CVP implementer and Communication Advisor roles to deliver campaigns across fuels & Convenience Retail in the execution of media & communication plans.

Finally, the brand and comms Manager will manage the Fuels SP&A planning and management in consultation with Fuels & E-Mobility Manager & Mobility Marketing Manager.

What we need from you?

Degree holder with marketing and commercial experience, knowledgeable on operations.

Proven track record of leadership skills in driving various marketing and business projects and an ability to forge positive working relationships with external and internal partners and stakeholder.

Degree in marketing or economics preferred; good overall understanding of the Retail business

+ 5 years’ experience in Marketing with understanding of the appropriate marketing tools and principles

Experience in developing and running ATL & BTL & Digital campaigns in Retail channel (or relevant)

Strong business analytical and problem-solving skills, commercial mindset

Strong customer orientation Generating insights skills with experience of translating it in actionable plan

Able to work independently highly self-motivated and able to effectively manage various competing priorities.

Strong project management skills required Fluent English,

Ability to manage complex projects and handle numerous relationships

Strong interpersonal and excellent organizational skills

Proven entrepreneurial mindset

Networking, influencing, negotiating skills, outstanding stakeholder management skills

Able to work under pressure and against tight deadlines

Skills: Commercial & Economic Acumen, Managing Customer Experience, Project Delivery, Generating Insights, Brand Management , Customer Offer Development, Integrated Marketing Comms, Marketing Activation, Digital Marketing Management and Strategic Marketing .

Knowledge: Value Chain Understanding, Contract Management, Channel Marketing Management
